What is on-demand production?

On-demand production refers to a manufacturing or production approach in which items are produced as needed, in response to specific orders or demand, rather than being produced in bulk or in advance. It is a flexible and efficient method that allows for the creation of products or materials only when they are requested or required by customers.

In the context of promo and print, on-demand production means that promotional materials, such as printed items like brochures and flyers, and merchandise, like t-shirts or tumblers, are manufactured in smaller quantities. Additionally, with localized on demand production, each item is produced at a location closest to the end user. Instead of printing and storing large quantities of items in advance, localized on-demand production enables companies to produce items as they are needed, minimizing waste, inventory costs and shipping distances. How does Ciloo work?

The Ciloo platform is an internal ecommerce solution for employees in your company. The portal follows your brand guidelines, and can be configured to fit your company’s needs. You can decide which users should have access to which products in which countries. You can also decide which payment methods each user or role should have access to. Once onboarding is complete, your users can order the latest, approved products in the quantities they need, in-line with the pre-set budgets allocated to each cost center. Each order is produced closest to the delivery address, reducing shipping distances and your brand’s carbon footprint.

What products are available on Ciloo?

You decide which products to make available to your users. You can choose from an extensive range of print material, including flyers, business cards, catalogs, roll up banners, posters, notebooks, diaries, brochures, and more in diverse formats and sizes. We also have an extensive selection of t-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, caps, tumblers, pens, backpacks, phone cases, and mugs, as well as gift cards, flowers and office supplies. You can also decide to start with a limited selection, and add new products gradually (our user-friendly uploader makes it easy to add different designs and formats to your catalog). Ciloo is the only solution that offers both print and promotional material on one platform, ensuring global brand control.

In which countries does production take place?

Fulfillment country for each order is carefully selected by our routing algorithm at the time of ordering. In more than 80% of the cases, orders are fulfilled in the same country as the delivery destination. Sometimes due to reasons such as stock availability, orders may be shipped internationally even if a fulfillment center exists within the same country. To which countries do you deliver?

We deliver to an extensive list of countries and have local production capabilities in most regions. Visit this page for a full overview of all countries. We are also able to integrate to your existing suppliers in case there are countries that Ciloo’s network currently does not support with local production.

Which currencies do you support?

Users can display prices in their preferred currency. Invoices are issued in USD and EUR, with local VAT rates.

How does invoicing work?

As a platform, we handle payments on behalf of the production suppliers. Since the suppliers do not offer payment terms (e.g 30 days for invoicing), Ciloo prepays orders on behalf of our customer, enabling us to extend standard payment terms to you.

Example:

  • Company X places an order on the platform with invoice as preferred method of payment
  • Ciloo pays the supplier, often when the order is being placed
  • The supplier issues an invoice addressed to Company X
  • Ciloo forwards the supplier invoice to Customer X, accompanied by a request for payment of the outstanding amount to Ciloo within the agreed payment term.

This system is similar to those used by platforms like Amazon, Booking.com, Deliveroo, and Uber. By prepaying suppliers, we offer our customers a payment term, functioning as a payment gateway where a third party collects funds. We are not a reseller of the products and thus Ciloo is not the entity that invoices. We are a software platform that facilitates transactions on our platform.

Is Ciloo handling local tax?

See the question “How does invoicing work?” above. In the cases where the suppliers are obligated to add sales tax, the supplier invoice will include tax. It's important to know that different countries have different tax rules.

What is the language of the platform?

The platform is localized according to your users. Our team of translators ensure that your users can experience a seamless process from start to finish, regardless of the language they speak.

Are there any hidden costs?

There are no hidden fees. The total cost is shown to the user before they place the order. With local production, there are no custom fees or the admin associated with it.

How do I track my order?

You can track your order end-to-end, all on one platform. From the moment an order has been produced, packaged and scanned for delivery, your order details are updated with tracking information from our selected third party courier.

How quickly do you deliver?

Delivery depends on the item ordered, quantity and delivery country and will be indicated before the order is placed. Packages are often delivered 3-5 business days after the order has been placed and confirmed.

How many users can we add?

There are no restrictions to the number of users you can add. You can also add more administrators and users to the solution along the way. Regular users can be added without additional costs. Can I limit access for users within my account?

Yes, you control who can order what, where and when. The platform provides comprehensive features to help you manage your users and their spend. This level of control ensures consistent brand standards while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to diverse market requirements.

How do you ensure global quality?

All suppliers we work with undergo a careful vetting process. Since printing is a chemical process, we cannot ensure 100% global consistency, however we instruct all suppliers to follow strict working processes to ensure uniform results as much as possible.

What happens if I'm not happy with my order? Can I contact the supplier directly?
